Redevelopment of the Heritage listed 310 Bourke Street store from project feasibility study stage to occupancy permit. The project involved addition of two storeys on the existing four storey building and construction of a six storey addition on the Little Bourke Street frontage. Works included a basement and new six level escalator void as well as the reconstruction and relocation of the heritage listed lift bank.
The client’s need to maintain occupancy of the existing building during construction was paramount to the projects business case. Approval Systems, in conjunction with the MFB and project fire engineer achieved this need by adopting an innovation referred to as the “Fire Safety Plan” which required coordinated involvement of the store management, project manager and contractor.
